Hello Banana Slugs! My name is Shiku Muhire and I am happy to announce that I am the new Commissioner of Academic Affairs this year! The goals for my office this year are to RECLAIM our academics by working towards the establishment of a student envisioned Critical Race and Ethnic Studies, and to RECONNECT students with administration and great faculty on campus. As part of my position, I work to lead and coordinate the representatives within the Academic Senate and Student Academic Senate. The only way to have an accurate voice in these spaces is to present administration with student testimonials, presented by students. Nothing is more powerful than administration placing a story, to a name, to a face. Lastly my office is a signpost to direct any students inquiring about any academic resources towards the right direction, i.e. tutoring services, retention, and mentor programs.
